Qus.1 Answer these questions.

(i) Why does the poet want to know where the teachers go at four o’clock?

Ans. The poet wants to know where the teachers go at four o’clock because that was the time when the school got over and  the teachers are not  in school.

(ii) What are the things normal people do that the poet talks about?

Ans. The poet talks about things that normal people do such as washing socks, wearing pyjamas, watching TV, picking their noses, living with their parents, not spelling right, being bad, making mistakes, getting punished, losing books, scribbling on desk tops, wearing old dirty jeans, etc.

(iii) What does he imagine about

(a) Where teachers live?

Ans. The teachers also lived in houses.

(b) What they do at home?

Ans. They also do  house work.

(c) The people with whom they live?

Ans. They lived with her parents, husbands and children.

(d) Their activities when they were children in school?

Ans. They also used to play like children. They also made mistakes. They were also punished.

(iv) Why does the poet wonder if teachers also do things that other people do?

Ans. The poet wonders if teachers also did the same things as others because they were strict and  well-behaved. They did not make mistakes, and scolded the students when they made mistakes. That is why he wonders if the teachers were also like others because he had a certain perfect image of the teachers.

(v) How does the poet plan to find out? What will he do once he finds out?

Ans. The poet plans to follow  the teachers on the way back home . Once he succeeds in doing do, he would compose it into a poem.

Qus.2 What do you think these phrases from the poem mean?

(i) Punished in the corner.

Ans. When someone makes a mistake, he is made to stand up and go to punished in the corner.

(ii) Leave their green

Ans. Leaving the playground after the bell strikes for the next class to begin.
