Qus.1 Why did the king want no more talk about the hilsa-fish?

Ans. The king wanted no more talk about the hilsa – fish because he was fed up to listen everyone taking about it.

Qus.2 What did the king ask Gopal to do to prove that he was clever?

Ans. The king asked Gopal to buy a huge hilsa – fish and bring it to the palace. No one should ask him a word about it.

Qus.3 What three things did Gopal do before he went to buy his hilsa-fish?

Ans.  He half – shaven his face. He smeared himself with ash. He put on rags.

Qus.4 How did Gopal get inside the palace to see the king after he had bought the fish?

Ans. When the guards stopped Gopal to go inside the palace , he began to dance. Hearing this the king ordered the guards to bring Gopal before him.

Qus.5  Explain why no one seemed to be interested in talking about the hilsa-fish which Gopal had bought.

Ans. Gopal was half – shaven. He had smeared ash on himself. He was wearing rags. So everyone was interested in his ridiculous dress but not in hilsa – fish.

(ii) Gopal was a madman.

(iii) The king got angry when he was shown to be wrong.

Ans. One day a stag was standing by the side of a pond. He saw his reflection into the water. He was happy to see his golden horns. He was proud of them. He got sad when he saw his ugly legs. He hated them. Just then he saw two hunters approaching to him. He ran fast to save his life. The hunters ran after him. The stag tried to hide himself in some bushes. His horns stuck in the bushes. His wife is in danger. He struggled hard and got free. He ran as fast as he could. He thought he was proud of his horns. They could have caused his death. He was ashamed of his legs. They saved him.

Moral:-  All that glitters is not gold.
