Qus.3 (i) What makes Mridu conclude that the beggar has no money to buy chappals ?

Ans. The beggar showed large , pink , peeling blisters to Mridu on his bare feet. This makes Mridu conclude that he has no money to buy chappals.

(ii) What does she suggest to show her concern?

Ans. To show her concern she suggests that they should give the beggar a pair of chappals if they have one in the house.

Ans. The beggar feared lest Rukku Manni should come there and take back those chappals. So he left in a hurry.

Ans. The thought of Gopu Mama’s reaction made Rukku Manni laugh. On coming home, it was his habit to throw off his shoes and get into chappals as soon as he reaches home.

Qus.1  Discuss in small groups

• If you want to give away something of your own to the needy, would it be better to ask your elders first?

 • Is there someone of your age in the family who is very talkative? Do you find her/him interesting and impressive or otherwise? Share your ideas with others in the group.

• Has Rukku Manni done exactly the same as the children? In your opinion, then, is it right for one party to blame the other?

Ans. • Yes it would be better to ask my elders before giving something of my own to the needy. It is wise to seek permission of our parents before taking any decision of this type. If we don’t ask our parents then it might be possible that something important can be given.

• Yes, my cousin Pihu is very talkative. He is always in a habit of taking interest in all sorts. He is ready to make fun of other. He never misses a chance to laugh at others.

  • No , it is not right for one party to blame the other. If Rukku Manni has been there in place of the children she exactly must have given those chappals to the bare footed beggar.
